چکیده

Sixty five testicular tumours in 27 years accounted for an average of 2-3 cases (specimens) per year. The estimated frequency was therefore 0.04% out of total 165,000 biopsies received during this period. Specimens were sent from surgical units of various hospitals of Karachi be sides Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Sections prepared were stained with routine haematoxylin and eosin; periodic acid schiff, reticulin and trichrome were used in selected cases.

Bilateral testicular germ cell tumours: a systematic review.

What's known on the subject? and What does the study add? Bilateral testicular germ cell tumours (BTGCTs) are rare neoplasms. Most previously published studies consist of case reports or small retrospective case series. Little is known about their epidemiological and clinicopathological characteristics. BTGCT corresponded to 1.82% of testicular tumours. Metachronous disease was about twice as f...

Pathogenesis of testicular germ cell tumours.

Human germ cell tumours comprise a heterogeneous group of neoplasms. In the testis, three entities are distinguished, the teratomas-yolk sac tumours of the infantile testis, the seminomas and nonseminomas of adolescents and adults, and the spermatocytic seminomas. Studies on epidemiology, histology, clinical behaviour, and chromosomal constitution of these tumours support the concept of distinc...

Infertility is one of the condition known to predispose to TGCT, but based on s...

Classification, epidemiology and therapies for testicular germ cell tumours.

Testicular germ cell tumours (TGCT) account for between 1% and 1.5% of male neoplasms and 5% of urological tumours in general. They are classified broadly into Seminoma, which resemble primordial germ cells (PGCs), and Non-Seminoma, which are either undifferentiated (embryonal carcinoma) or differentiated (exhibiting a degree of embryonic (teratoma) or extra-embryonic (yolk sac choriocarcinoma)...
